Video BIO Guidelines

Create Your Video BIO - Welcome Intro for Connect Education

At Connect Education, we want to help you introduce yourself to students and parents in a personal and engaging way. Your Video BIO will give families a chance to learn more about you, your teaching style, and what makes you stand out as an educator. Follow this guide to create a compelling video that showcases your passion for teaching and highlights your expertise.

Why Create a Video BIO?

Creating a video BIO is the perfect way to show your personality, teaching approach, and how you can help students succeed. It builds trust and helps potential students and parents feel more connected with you before they even book a session.

What to Include in Your Video BIO

Introduce Yourself

Start your video by introducing yourself and giving potential students and parents a sense of who you are:

  • What is your name? (For confidentiality reasons, we ask tutors to use their first name only.)
  • What do you teach? (Include the grade levels and subjects you specialize in.)
  • What is your educational background? (Mention your qualifications, certifications, and any relevant teaching experience you have.)

Focus on Your Teaching Skills

Let students and parents know how you’ll help them achieve their learning goals. Here are some key points to cover:

  • Your qualifications, work experience, and teaching skills: Highlight any specific qualifications that relate to your area of expertise.
  • What can students expect in your lessons?: Are your lessons interactive, personalized, or structured? Let them know your approach.
  • Do you have a preferred teaching method?: For example, do you use inquiry-based learning, Montessori methods, or project-based learning?
  • What activities and materials do you prefer to use during lessons?: Do you use engaging exercises, hands-on projects, or digital tools? Share what works best in your lessons.
  • Experience with special education needs: If applicable, mention your experience working with students who have special education needs or different learning requirements.
  • What do you specialize in?: This could be exam preparation, elementary math, science, special education, or any area where you offer unique expertise.
  • Your passion for teaching: Share what excites you about tutoring and how you create engaging learning experiences for your students.
  • Your motto (Optional): Feel free to include a brief motto or teaching philosophy that guides your approach to education.

Ending Your Video

Finish your video with a friendly and professional closing message:

  • Encourage students or parents to book a session with you. Let them know that you’re excited to work with them and help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Thank them for watching your video and wrap up with a motivational message that leaves them feeling confident in your abilities as a tutor.

Recording Tips for a Great Video

Here are a few tips to ensure your video looks professional and engaging:

  • Camera Distance: Make sure the camera is not too close to your face. We recommend leaving some space around you so we can crop the video for social media if needed.
  • Multiple Shots: Don’t worry about making it perfect in one take! You can send multiple shots or short clips, and we’ll edit them into one polished video.
  • Length: Aim to keep your video around 1-3 minutes long.
  • Orientation: Record in horizontal (16:9 aspect ratio). This format is essential for embedding on our platform and sharing on social media.
  • Lighting: Use a bright, well-lit space with minimal shadows on your face. Natural light or soft indoor lighting works best.
  • Sound: Record in a quiet space and, if possible, use an external microphone for clear audio.
  • Background: Choose a clean and clutter-free setting to avoid distractions.
  • Be Expressive: Smile, make eye contact with the camera, and feel free to use gestures to make your video more engaging and personable.

What to Avoid in Your Video

To maintain a professional and consistent look across all tutor videos, please avoid the following:

  • Personal Information: Do not mention your last name or share any personal contact details.
  • Filters or Special Effects: Refrain from using filters, borders, or special effects.
  • Other People: Make sure no one else is in the video with you.
  • Slideshows or Presentations: Avoid using pre-made presentations or demo lessons.
  • Logos or Links: Please do not include any logos or links to other websites or platforms in your video.

Once your video is ready, please rename the file using the following format: FirstName_LastName (e.g., Jane_Doe) before uploading it. This helps us organize submissions efficiently.
